Boneless Chuck Roast

  • Boneless Chuck Roast
  • Shortening; salt/pepper and flour
  • Lipton's Onion Soup Mix (dry)

Using a heavy pot or Electric Frying Pan wipe roast with damp paper towel. Sprinkle with salt and flour. Sear both sides in small amount of shortening to keep in juices. After it is slightly browned add water and sprinkle one package of Lipton's Onion Soup Mix on top.

Be Sure to keep plenty of water in pot for gravy. Turn roast periodically until done. Cooking time from 1 hour to 1-1/2 hours according to size. Test with fork.

(This is how my Nana cooked... by experience as opposed to exactitude. I say as much as to explain as to why this recipe differs in form from all of the others. I copied her hand-written explanation verbatim.)
