Worth the Wait Spaghetti Sauce

- 3/4 cup chopped onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 3 TBS olive oil
- 2 1lb cans (4 cups) tomatoes
- 2 6oz cans (1 1/3 cups) tomato paste
- 1 1/2 tsp each of salt, pepper and crushed oregano
- 1 cup water
- 1 bay leaf
- hot cooked spaghetti
- ground beef
- Brown and drain ground beef, set aside
- Sauté onions & garlic in hot oil
- Stir in the next ingredients
- Add beef in
- Simmer uncovered 30 minutes
- Serve over spaghetti
- Top with cheeses (optional)
(Any remaining sauce freezes well.)
